8 of the Best Amusement
Park Hacks
Finally, the weather forecast is boasting warmer
temperatures. It won't be long before summer and Amusement Park Season are upon
us! While rollercoasters and park fries are certainly amusement park staples,
it's no secret these things can get expensive, so follow these eight tips if
you're interested in saving money and
time:Â
Keep an eye on the
weather: If there's a threat of rain in the forecast, most people will
steer clear of amusement parks, which is why it's the perfect time to grab a
poncho at the Dollar Store and head to your favorite coaster. The lines will be
shorter which means more riding for you and yours.Â
Â
Arrive later:
Research your park's rates and plan accordingly; most parks offer discount
admission rates if arriving later in the afternoon.Â
Â
Bring your own water
& snacks: If the park allows, packing your own drinks and food not only
saves money, but so much time. Sometimes the lines at concessions are longer
than the lines at the rides!Â
Â
Extra clothes: No
one likes to walk around in wet or sweaty clothes. Packing extras, especially
for the little ones, helps avoid discomfort and rashes and, ultimately, meltdowns.Â
Â
Plastic Bags: The
kind with zippers and the grocery store variety will come in handy for protecting
electronic devices and taking home wet clothes.Â
Â
Change: Younger
kids are content throwing pennies in a fountain, and older kids love playing
random games at the arcade. Keep a few dollars' worth of coins in one of those
zipper plastic baggies and you're prepared for when wet weather hits or when
everyone needs a break from riding.
Â
Bring your own
wagon/stroller: Even though parks do offer wagons and lockers to help
transport and store all your stuff, but they come at a price. If you have a
wagon or stroller, bring it.Â
Â
Sunscreen: Save
time and ensure a thorough application by applying sunscreen (to face, body,
lips, and scalp!) before going into the park, and often throughout the day.
Kids won't want to slow down to reapply, so pull double-duty and lather them up
while they're in line or during lunch.
