Even though February is the shortest month of the year, it can sometimes feel like the longest month because of the cold weather and grey skies. Staying inside with your kids where it is toasty and warm is great-for a while. But eventually cabin fever sets in and you and your kids need to do something to break that cabin fever. If everyone has logged too many hours in front of their electronics and the TV, here's six activities that are family friendly and the perfect cabin fever boredom busters.

1.      Plan a spring break trip with your kids. Let them help you research locations, find restaurants, and even plan the activities. You can even create a countdown to get everyone excited about the trip and every day, your kids will love counting down the time until you leave on your spring vacay.

2.       Use President's Day to visit local historic attractions or museums. Many places will have scavenger hunts and lessons that you can incorporate while you visit. This means no extra work for you and everyone gets to learn something new!

3.       Find family friendly winter activities. From ice skating, skiing, or snow tubing, explore you town and get a break from being inside for a few outside adventures.

4.       Decorate for Valentine's Day! You don't need to spend a small fortune buying decorations when you can cut out hearts from construction paper or print off coloring sheets of cupid from the internet. Let your kids color, cut, and decorate for the sweetest holiday.

5.       February is also National Heart Month and even though it is cold outside, break cabin fever by getting your entire family out and moving. Look for places in your area that are perfect for your entire family to burn some energy- trampoline parks, inflatable playgrounds, indoor swimming pools, or bundle up everyone and go for a winter hike on warmer days. Playgrounds are usually empty this time of year, so if you bundle everyone up, you can have some fun playground time all to yourself.

6.       Too cold to go outside? Throw a camping party inside. Pull out a few sleeping bags and make a tent from sheets and couch cushions. Make camping snacks and play a few games while inside the tent. If you are really brave spend the night inside your tents. The best part of this camping trip-no bugs and no one is cold!
